Chinese Spring Festival Paper Cut Card

by Christy Wang, an online Chinese teacher (Finished Project photo below) Supplies     *  Two  8.5”×11” sheets of red paper     * One 2”x2” sheet of red paper     * One 4”×6” white index card     * Scissors     * Glue

1. Cut one piece of red paper in half, creating two 4.25”×11” pieces of red paper.
2. Glue the white index card in the middle of one of the halves of red paper
3. Make two red paper-cut triangles
   
                 *  Fold the 2"×2" red paper in half diagonally, from corner to corner to make a triangle. (half size of 2×2" square)
   
                 * Repeat; folding red paper in half diagonally, from corner to corner to make a smaller triangle. (quarter size of 2×2" square)
   
                 * Make your own paper cut on the smaller triangle.
   
                 *  Unfold the red paper to 2×2"  square. Then cut it in half diagonally to two red paper-cut triangles.
   
   
4. Glue one of the red paper-cut triangle on the left bottom corner of the white index card and the other one on the right top corner of the white index card.
5. Glue the 4.25×2.75” piece of red paper with the Chinese symbol of spring, 春 , in the  middle of the white index card.    
6. Decorate the card with your own design. (This card sample uses two white flowers to
   decorate the card.)
7. If you want to hang this card on the wall, you can glue string on the top of the paper.
