My children enjoy DVDs. It is amazing how much they learn from a DVD.

Wow, the Bao Bei kids have grown some in this video!
The video has the feel and pacing of a regular cooking show, only it's hosted by kids. So it's pretty inspiring for kids who are interested to cook and those wanting to learn more of Chinese.
The Chinese pronunciation and words here are more suitable for kids with a little basic background in the language.
I think bigger kids will also like the behind the scenes part. They will like that young persons shot and produced the video.

The people in this movie all speak too fast for your kids to understand the chinese. Even the glossary section goes by too fast for the kids to read the english and hear the chinese. It is also boring for the kids. It didn't keep thier attention.

I bought this for my 9 yr old daughter as she loves cooking and we are moving to Beijing next month so we are learning Chinese. It is very well done, she loved to watch it and wants to make all the different dishes. Sometimes the Chinese is said a little quick for the beginner, but I am sure she will watch it many times. I would also really recommend the Jade series of DVDs as my children have learned a lot from those as well.
