Special features include:
- Glossary of Chinese words and phrases
- How to use chopsticks

Great fun for the whole family! Children ages 8 to 12.
Approximately 30 minutes.

Ni Hao Productions DVD Cooking with Kids: Exploring Chinese Food, Culture
and Language is absolutely wonderful! It's made by kids for kids and the
hostess, Katya, seems like a friend coming over to share her love of the
Chinese language and cooking with you.

Much of the show takes place in the kitchen, with Katya explaining recipes
as well as inserting the Chinese word for the utensils and food. Her
helpers, Wesley and Nikolai, are delightful and capable assistants who add
to the fun.

Written Recipes are shown on the screen as Katya reads the ingredients.
Then she shows exactly how to make the Chinese dishes for a complete meal
including Egg Flower Soup, Stir-fried Chicken, and Almond Cookies.

But that's not all! Katya goes shopping in San Francisco's China Town. This
portion of the show is most enjoyable.

Honestly, I love Chinese food so much I already have my own wok, and I've
always admired the Chinese culture. But frankly, I thought that Chinese as
a language was just too different from English for me to learn. Ni Hao
Productions has changed my mind! This family-friendly video is exciting and
encouraging! Today, I started learning Chinese! Thank you Ni Hao
Productions. Ni Hao means Hello; isn't that great?!

Lovely DVD March 11, 2008
Reviewer: Sally Embley from Turriff, Aberdeenshire United Kingdom
I bought this for my 9 yr old daughter as she loves cooking and we are moving to Beijing next month so we are learning Chinese. It is very well done, she loved to watch it and wants to make all the different dishes. Sometimes the Chinese is said a little quick for the beginner, but I am sure she will watch it many times. I would also really recommend the Jade series of DVDs as my children have learned a lot from those as well.

Teenager Video February 11, 2008

I bought this DVD for my 14-year niece.  I want to introduce her to Chinese cooking and learn some of the common Chinese words used in the Chinese food.  She loves it!
