The DVD is 30 minutes long and has Pinyin at the end.

Bao Bei is the Panda hostess of Early Start Mandarin Chinese Volume 1:
Colors and Animals. She begins with greetings to everyone: In Mandarin, "Ni
Hao" means "Hello." The 30 minute show is geared for preschoolers, with
word introduction in English and Mandarin; with repetition, preschoolers to
adults will know the vocabulary offered.

In an effort not to overwhelm preschoolers, the colors are primary and
familiar. Each color presented is shown as a color and as the color on an
item.

Animals include dog, cat, duck, and rabbit. Each is repeated to insure that
the preschooler will remember the vocabulary.

The Early Start series Volume 1: Colors and Animals is a great way to begin
learning Mandarin Chinese. I highly recommend this DVD if you or your child
is interested in learning this form of Chinese quickly and easily.

Simple "Chinese words, phrases, and tones" relating to colors and animals
are introduced in this charming title. Hosted by hand-puppet Bao Bei
(speaking in a youngster s voice) and Chu-Chu, a bouncing, animated cricket
(speaking in an adult voice), the DVD also features ethnically diverse
youngsters ranging in age from preschool to elementary school. Bao Bei and
Chu-Chu ask questions in both English and Chinese, and the children answer
by repeating the new terms, which are pictured in drawings, still photos,
and live-action shots. The concluding "Vocabulary" section lists new words
in both Pinyin and English subtitles, but without voice-over pronunciation.
Backed by classical piano music, this energetic program is also useful for

I am glad to buy this DVD for my 20 months daughter. I let her watch this DVD once a day. Within a month, she was able to say "Baobei," "go" , "mao", "ya tze", "tiau", "ni hao", "tjai tjien", "ie chi wan." (pardon my pinyin =D)

This is a fun video that encourages the children to response.

The video teaches colors (red, blue, yellow, and green), and animal (dog, cat, duck, and rabbit). and in bw BaoBei spoke the complete sentence too even though it does not emphasis them as much as colors and animals. Part of sentence "lets play together" /"lets learn ... together" or "the color of my hat is ...". and "little friend" .

At the end of the chapter, there is a recap in pinyin with english translation to help us parents to pronounce all the words that were taught better.

My children just adored Bao Bei the Panda. This is a fun video to watch and the children can learn at the same time.
