Description

Early Start Mandarin Chinese with Bao Bei the Panda, Numbers and Fruits #2 Introduces simple words, phrases and the tonal sounds of Mandarin Chinese to preschool age children. Bao Bei, the lovable panda puppet and Chu Chu the cricket teach Mandarin Chinese in a fun and entertaining manner that encourages learning. The DVD is designed around colorful and familiar toys that children enjoy. The DVD is 30 minutes long and has Pinyin at the end.  For ages 1-5.

Simple "Chinese words, phrases, and tones" relating to colors and animals
are introduced in this charming title. Hosted by hand-puppet Bao Bei
(speaking in a youngster s voice) and Chu-Chu, a bouncing, animated cricket
(speaking in an adult voice), the DVD also features ethnically diverse
youngsters ranging in age from preschool to elementary school. Bao Bei and
Chu-Chu ask questions in both English and Chinese, and the children answer
by repeating the new terms, which are pictured in drawings, still photos,
and live-action shots. The concluding "Vocabulary" section lists new words
in both Pinyin and English subtitles, but without voice-over pronunciation.
Backed by classical piano music, this energetic program is also useful for
older children interested in learning Chinese. --Eloise Kinney, American
Library Association Booklist Magazine

We all love this video series May 22, 2008
Reviewer: Meredith Kelly from CA United States
My toddler and my six year old are huge fans.  The whole family is picking up some Mandarin from this very entertaining, sweet series.  The amount taught in each DVD is not overwhelming for my kids.  It's just the perfect blend of fun and learning.  I highly recommend this series as a great introduction to Mandarin.
