my 2 girls have really picked up alot of words by watching the Jade dvd's when we go to the store here they can tell me about the different fruit and vegetables

Great introductory to Chinese |

This is a great introductory DVD to learn Chinese.
The pinyin really helps. The fruits and animals are the common ones we see in the US supermarkets that the children can related to. This web site has a good selection of teaching children tools.

My two children (aged 4 and 6) liked this, and willingly watched it several times till they knew all the vocabulary.
This was almost our first attempt to learn Mandarin. It was clear and easy, and not too American.
We all prefer this to the MeiMei video.
Of course, it is not perfect. We learnt mainly nouns (not phrases). It shows some Pinyin, but no Hanzi. One of the songs was too tricky for me to follow, and the text is not given. If you wanted to learn fluent Mandarin at this rate it would be very expensive.
I thought it a very good introduction, and I am about to buy the companion DVD.

A good DVD but not enough for me |

I got this for my 3 years old son to learn some Chinese and he likes it. There are many repetitions in the DVD so he picks up words easily. I wish that the program was longer though. I feel that 30 minutes is just too short. But this is overall a great DV

We LOVE the Jade videos! We just wish there were more! Jade's use of repetition and different teaching mediums makes learning easy. After the first watching, we all came away with several Chinese words committed to memory. Now, after hundreds of watchings
