Description

Guess How Much I Love You.
Bilingual in English & Traditional Chinese.  Hard Cover.

All children want reassurance that their parents' love runs wide and deep. In Guess How Much I Love You, a young rabbit named Little Nutbrown Hare thinks he's found a way to measure the boundaries of  love. Every time during a bedtime game, Little Nutbrown Hare demonstrates how much he loves his father, Big Nutbrown Hare.  Big Nutbrown Hare gently shows parental love is returned even more.

GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU was first published in 1995. This tale of two Nutbrown Hares whose love between father and son has enchanted more than 13 million readers around the world. What may be a little-kept secret, however, is that many of those readers aren’t so little! With endearing simplicity, Sam McBratney’s beguiling text and Anita Jeram’s expressive illustrations have struck a universal chord. After all, who doesn’t like to be reminded that they’re loved, unconditionally and boundlessly?

Author’s Comments: Sam McBratney says that the response to GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU "just took my breath away." The much-loved bestseller was the fifty-seventh book of the author’s career, and his first book with Candlewick Press. In addition to authoring many books for children, Sam McBratney has written radio plays for adults and a prize-winning collection of short stories. He also worked for many years as a teacher. Married, with three grown children, he lives in Northern Ireland.

Illustrator’s comments: Anita Jeram says that illustrating GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU by Sam McBratney was a labor of love. "Every time I read this book, I want to cry," she says. Anita Jeram is the illustrator of many other popular and critically acclaimed picture books, including KISS GOOD NIGHT, DON'T YOU FEEL WELL, SAM? and YOU CAN DO IT, SAM by Amy Hest, and ALL PIGS ARE BEAUTIFUL by Dick King-Smith. She lives in Northern Ireland with her family and a menagerie of pets.

It's hard to keep my son to sit still.  We love this book because he can act out along with the story.    I like this book in both Chinese and English.

i love it! February 13, 2008

I purchased "Guess How Much I Love You" (written in Chinese and English) for my daughter for the holiday and i must say i love it! We are starting her off very young (she is less than three months old) so i'll be back for more products in the future. Like your family, we are a great mix of East and West, hence the name "Meigan", and I agree absolutely that it is important that our children become familiar with both parts, in culture and in language.

I bought this book for my son when we were living in Taiwan and it is still a favorite.  It appears to be the same as the english version (illustrations etc.) only with traditional characters.

Good Book for 1+ July 15, 2006
Reviewer: Sherry
This book's Chinese translation follows the English version almost literally.  It's well translated and simple to read.  My children really enjoy this soothing and sweet story for their bedtime ritual.
