With English and pinyin, this book helps non-Chinese speakers learn at home, and help all learners to build a solid foundation. This book focus on daily conversation. The vocabulary used in each chapter context gradually builds up from the previous chapters. Author
The author, Wendy Lin is a New Jersey certified Chinese language teacher who graduated from the National Taiwan Normal University and earned her two master degrees from the United States. She came to the United States in 1983 with a full scholarship and earned her M. Ed the next year from Georgia Southwestern State University. In 1991, Wendy graduated from Baruch College, CUNY and earned her M.S. degree in computer science. Currently, she is tutoring individuals and adoptive families other than writing, and teaching in Chinese school. In her spare time, she writes articles for local medias to share her experience in overseas Chinese education.

My kid uses this for her weekend Chinese class. It is excellent because it is colorful and covers practical subjects. The CD is very good. This book is perfect for the young Chinese learner and a good buy.
