Outstanding book September 3, 2008 Reviewer: Anonymous person from woodland hills, CA United States   My 5 yr old son has been learning Mandarin since he was 4.  I have been looking for books that had Pinyin, Simplified Chinese and English.   This book hits all points and hits it extremely well.  It is not a Pre-school book - more for grade school ( ages 6-8).  This is excellent to learn with.  The illustrations are engaging and colorful.  The vocabulary is everyday type of words.  Not only does his instructor teach him from this, I can also read to him.  Certain words are highlighted for added emphasis and done with repitition.  I can't say enough about this book except that I loved it so much that I just ordered the other 3 books.  I can't wait to get them.
