Monkey King is no ordinary monkey. He can change into any shape and he can fly to heaven on a cloud. He stores a magic rod in his ear (that can change sizes) and uses it to defeat the nastiest ogre in battle.
The story of Monkey King has been read and loved by Chinese children for hundreds of years. Follow the adventures of Monkey King and Pig as they accompany Monk Tang on a journey from China to India to gather Buddhist scriptures.
The story is found in the famous Chinese Book, Journey to the West. In the 16th century, poet and civil servant Wu Cheng'en organized the Monkey King's exploits into an epic novel, Journey to the West.
Now Journey to the West is available in an easy-to-read English and bilingual translations, which is not only entertaining, but also educational. Not only are these available in books, but we also have DVDs. Warning - Monkey King does have a habit of fighting Monsters, Gods, etc. before he finds the Buddhist scrolls. He was actually buried in a mountain due to a bit of fighting he did, before journeying with Tang monk.
