Unwilling to see her elderly father drafted into the Imperial Army, the young Mulan disguises herself as a man and takes her father’s place in battle. For the next ten years she shows remarkable skill as a warrior and a leader. She rises through the ranks to become a famous general, and is honored by the Emperor himself. Her true identity remains hidden from her comrades-in-arms until her discharge. Upon her return home, she reveals herself to be a female, and offers words of wisdom on the loyalty and bravery of women.
