The Ugly Vegetables by Graced Lin
A little girl thinks her mother's garden is the ugliest in the neighborhood
until she discovers that flowers might look and smell pretty but Chinese
vegetable soup smells best of all. The back of the book has a recipe for the vegetable soup and a list of the Chinese vegetables with descriptions, pictures, Chinese character, and pronunciation. I recognize most of the vegetables from my mother-in-laws garden I have watered while they were in Taiwan. Book is for grades 1-2, or ages 6-7. Very cute and well done book.
